About

This is my blog all about my artwork, progress learning to tattoo, and anything that I think is cool and relevant to it. All artwork is my own and for my own use only. Please don’t steal anything and if you see a drawing you would like to get tattooed but don’t live anywhere near me and want someone else to do it, then just ask!

I work at Pistols Tattoo Studio in Eastbourne, UK. If you would like to get tattooed by me, leave a comment on one of my posts with contact details and I will get back to you.

  1. Hi! I was browsing the web, looking for someone that could draw up a tattoo idea for me when I came across your wordpress. I don’t know why, but I hate the idea of walking into a tattoo place without a picture or the actual tattoo, hahaha xD I know its their job to draw them, but I’d rather see it beforehand (if that makes sense) and I was wondering if you could draw mine for me? I understand that you’re probably busy, and if you can’t draw it up that’s okay, but i love your work & I think you’d be able to draw something i want.

Incase you decide to, though, I’m getting one the same place, and same size as the girls have in this picture (but not the design):

I never liked the idea of taking someone’s tattoo, even if i really like it. Well, I was browsing for ideas and came across this:

and almost went and got the exact same thing on my thigh. O_O
Is there any way you could alter that tattoo design enough so that it would still have the same idea? (Also, if possible, the hand holding the key could be removed because i think it looks kinda creepy! hahaha) Send me an email when you can, even if you can’t draw it for me.
    Thanks! -Courtney

P.S. I live in the U.S., but if there’s any way I could donate to you if you draw up the tattoo, let me know because I’d like to send some money in return :)

I was looking through your artwork, and it’s beautiful! I can’t imagine being a tattoo artist and having to practice. I imagine it’d be nerve wracking. Within the next few months I’ll be getting my first tattoo, and if it weren’t for the fact that I live in the US, I’d come get it from you :)
    Keep up the good work!

hey mate, stumbled across your blog on line and was instantly hooked, read everything!
Im working in a tattoo shop in Australia and all i want to be is a tattooist , Im not yet an apprentice as the shop i work at doesnt have enough room to put one on (hopefully we can move to a bigger shop so i can start) but at least ive got my foot in the door.
Reading your blog has given me new inspiration and ive just started out using water colour as ive been using colouring pencils the least year or so.
Your work looks great, hope its everything you wanted it to be.
    Cheers cameron

    • thanks dude! getting your foot in the door is the hardest part. hang in there and you’ll be tattooing before you know it. i can’t believe it’s nearly a year since i started doing it!

water colours are cool, but i would recommend inks more. especially daler rowney, FW actylic inks. they are what i use and i’d never use anything else now lol. the colours are way more vibrant than water colours and they black is way more black. they take a bit of getting used to, but just keep practising :)

tattooing has been amazing. i feel so lucky to be as busy as i am already, and to get to do the pieces i do on some great customers and friends. there’s obviously a lot of stuff i do that isn’t exactly what i’m into, but it’s all practise. about once a week i’ll be sat there and just think “oh my god, i am tattooing full time!!” like i suddenly realise it’s not a dream.

good luck with everything and thanks again for the comment :)

Sounds awesome will have to check the inks out, would be great to have a blacker black. lol sick of having to go over and over.

    • hey thanks for your comment! i’ve been tattooing for almost a year now :) eastbourne is real easy to get to, it’s just over half an hour on a direct train from brighton and if you have a young persons card, will cost you about £5.50 for a return :) at the moment i’m charging £30 minimum, £40 an hour, but will be putting my hourly rate up a little in the new year. email me on: harrietthespyyy@gmail.com if you want to talk ideas :)

I’m really loving your work and amazing progress, especially how you seem to embrace your own unique style.
Fell head over heels for your line shaded skull – been wanting a dino of sorts done for ages but never found the perfect fit.
Unfortunately I am situated in Norway at the mo, going to London for a few days in late march, but I assume you don’t do any work there? Don’t think I have a chance to travel down due to our tight schedule..

    Cheers,
    June

    • hey thanks for the comment! unfortunately i don’t have anywhere i can work from in london, but luckily for you, the king of line shading works at a studio in london called into you. he’s called Duncan X and this is his website:

      http://www.duncanx.com/

i’m not sure how booked up he is, but it might be worth calling into you in london and asking if theres any chance of booking in with him. good luck! and i hope you have a great time in london!

Thank you, that really helps! Flying over to see the Kills play at Heaven, and my sister is getting a tattoo done by Henry Hate.
Had a bad case of ink-envy!
Maybe one day I’ll be down south too – good luck with everything!

  7. Hey Harriet,

I live in Canada and was wondering if it would be cool if I got your some of your paintings/flash tattooed on myself. I really dig the crocodile and the blue beetle. Would love to get your permission of course before moving forward. Love your work!

    -Marc

    • hey thanks for the message!! i’m totally cool with you doing it if you want to :) as long as you show me some photos when they’re done, as i’d love to see how they turn out! thanks for asking :)

      • I’ll send photos your way when I end up getting them done! hey were you ever on BME? I think we chatted a few times on there like around 2003-2006…anways thanks again for the go ahead! :D

      • yeah i was! the_logic_of_crocodiles :) what was your username on there? i’m still on it but i barely use it at all these days, its not like it used to be

  8. yup it was you! I think mine was crazywack or something to that affect..lol I stopped going on BME when they started focusing on cosmetic amputations.. so around when myspace and facebook got big around 2005-2006ish… what’s it like on there these days?

I was looking up “Totoro tattoos” on Google image because I’m genuinely considering getting Totoro as my next (2nd) tattoo since he was such an big part of my childhood…and I came across the Totoro tattoo you did for you friend and I absolutely fell in love with it.
Unfortunately for me, you live in the UK and I live in the United States. :(
Do you know of any great tattoo artists in California that would be able to recreate your Totoro masterpiece in all of its sheer brilliance? Anyone you would recommend?
Also, how much would a tattoo of that magnitude (that amount of color/detail/size) cost on average?
I love literally all of your work and I’m so sad that I won’t be able to get inked by you since I live too far away.
    :(

    • thankyou for the kind words!!

unfortunately i cant think of anyone from california off the top of my head, most of the tattoo artists i follow from america are in new york. as for pricings etc its so hard to say, different artists have different rates and work at different speeds, you can never really tell. i’d recommend going to some studios near you to have a look through their portfolios and chat to them about the idea and see if theres anyone you think would do a good job. or google the studios in your area and look at their work online :)

      thanks again!!
